So I have decided that I want to write about my weight loss so I am changing up my blog. I mean, why not? I don’t have the drama, soap opera stories anymore! Although, Engineer has added me as a friend on Facebook and all he does are funny posts and his new girlfriend posts about how much she loves him. Stuff like that. I am happy being single and working on me. Arizona and I are talking a LOT and planning on moving together once he finishes school. Maybe that will work into something, who knows. I’m not rushing or looking for anyone. I’m kind of waiting to see what happens there.
SO! Anyway!
I started my weight loss journey on March 1st, 2014. I weighed 236. I want to eventually weigh 175 but am making small goals so I don’t get frustrated with progress. As of Monday, June 9th, I weigh 218.4. All I am doing is using this app called myfitnesspal to track what I put in my mouth and walking. My first goal (which seems to be taking FOREVER) is 215. I also have a jawbone UP 24 which is great! It tracks everything for me so I know when I have hit my goal of 10,000 steps for each day and if I got enough sleep. It also works with myfitnesspal so everything goes into one app.
Last month, I had a set back when I was walking really fast and injured my left hip and foot. I still have pain in my hip but my foot is okay. I had x-rays and was told that it was just a bad sprain. I wasn’t allowed to walk much for 2 weeks so I really had to watch my calorie intake but I did it!
In April when I started tracking my calories, I was only down 3 pounds at 223.6. Since then, I have found tracking your calories is really good for you. You know exactly what you are eating! I haven’t measured myself since April but at that time, I had already lost 2 inches. I have gained a pound or 2 at times, but steadily, it is coming off. I am within 3 pounds of my goal and am going to buy myself a new outfit when I hit it. My next goal will be 200. I haven’t weighed 200 pounds since high school.
I got really excited when people starting mentioning that I look like I’ve lost weight. Then I think that people tend to say that a lot as a passing compliment (or maybe they really have noticed, who knows). I know I have lost weight. That’s what counts. ME.
So, it is a really long and slow process but I keep hearing that the slower you take it off, the more likely you are to keep it off.
Arizona has been helping me a lot. He is a personal trainer where he lives. He keeps me motivated and tells me different stuff to do to help me along. He wants me to start using weight machines (yuck) so I’m going to have to start that soon. Otherwise, I’ll just be normal looking with clothes on and excess skin city with clothes off.
Arizona and I are planning a vacation for next year to the Grand Canyon. Neither of us has been and I want to take Little Man. Arizona is asking me to take the 8 mile hike there too so I really need to be in shape!
